Military Family Day to be held Tuesday

The Louisiana Senate will hold its annual Military Family Day observance Tuesday.
The event, which will honor 19 of Louisiana’s “Fallen Heroes,” will begin at 1 p.m. in the Senate Chamber at the State Capitol. It will be followed by a balloon release ceremony on the Capitol steps.
State Sen. Rob Marionneaux Jr., D-Grosse Tete, started the observance in 2005. Since then, 148 U.S. soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in defense of freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq have been honored.
The families will receive a resolution honoring their loved one, along with a state flag.
Soldiers who will be recognized are: Pfc. Nicholas Mathews, Lance Cpl. Caleb Genin, Maj. Ronald Culver Jr., Spc. Joshua Tomlinson, Pfc. Bryant Haynes, Sgt. Jordan Tuttle, Cpl. Joe Wrightsman, Sgt. Joseph Bovia, Spc. Matthew Powell, Spc. Steven Dupont, Lance Cpl. Dakota Huse, Staff Sgt. Austin Daniel, Sgt. Micah David, Staff Sgt. Stacey Groves, Spc. Christian Romig, Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon Stone, Spc. Christopher Langley, Staff Sgt. Quadi Hudgins and Sgt. 1st Class Lee Kessinger.
